We had breakfast again downstairs in our villa. After breakfast, the girls had another swim in the pool.
At about 10am, we arranged taxis to take us to Splash at Finns Recreation Club which about ten minutes away in Canggu. This is an amazing water park with plenty of choice for activities and rides for all ages.
When we arrived, we had to go through security. We'd brought along a big bag containing towels and bottled water from our villas. The security guards took our bottled water and said we could pick them up when we left.
Inside the complex, there was a swimming pool on the right with a covered area with tables and chairs. A muscular man was doing laps in the pool and this turned out to be Australian swimming champion Michael Klim who apparently has an interest in the company that runs the park.
On the left side, there are slides and other rides that mostly deposit participants in a large pool. For most rides, you need to climb several flights of stairs to get to the top. Some slides are straight and open but for others you pass through winding tubes.
Amelia and Alexis had been here before. Steph and Matt accompanied them on the rides and I ran around taking photos. It was hard to keep up with them and work out where they were. Apart from anything else, I had to work out where the end of the ride was so I could be in right place to capture the moment.
Later Philip and then David arrived to take over accompanying the girls for their adventures. The adults seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as the kids. However, on the tallest rides, they sometimes seemed to be looking down wondering "why the heck am I up here so high".
At the end of one of the rides, Alexis seemed to be spending a lot of time searching the water. It turned out that she'd lost another one of her front teeth during the ride and was trying to retrieve it. She found it and was very excited.
There were lots of people wearing Finns T-shirts at various places around the complex. At first I thought they were all Finns staff having a break but I eventually realised that these were regular customers enjoying their day around the pools.
There was a bar between the two different pool areas offering food and drinks. We ordered pizzas and beers for lunch. I went for Heineken rather than the local Bintang beer.
We caught taxis back to the villas mid-afternoon. One of the staff had organised a special surprise in each room. He had created animal shapes from the towels etc for each room. Philip had a rabbit with his glasses, we had a bear and Steph and Matt had a pair of swans with the long necks touching each other in a heart shape.
In the evening, we'd booked to go to Ku De Ta (pronounced in French as coup d'etat). This is one of the most popular destinations in Seminyak and it's easy to see why. It has great atmosphere and caters well for the Australian tourists.
It's a large venue next to the beach that has golden white sands. At ground level, there are tables in the open and there are rooms on the next level up overlooking the beach. There's a pool next to the beach.
Before entering the building we had to pass through security. Uniformed people stopped us at a boom gate and opened every door of the vehicle to look inside. Other security people searched around the car including someone who looked under the car with a mirror on a pole.
This seemed over the top until I remembered that terrorists had bombed tourist spots in Kuta not so long ago. There were more security people checking us out at the entrance to the restaurant.
When we first arrived, they put us at a table near the beach and served us sangrias. It was a great opportunity to take photos as the sun gradually set. There were people on the beach including vendors trying to sell kites, jewellery, etc.
After sunset, they moved us to a large table inside for dinner. It was an excellent meal. However, once again, the wine was very expensive.
We caught taxis back to the villas.
