Day 9 - Sunday 6th October

After a late night last night, we managed to sleep in until 9am. We went down to the hotel restaurant, Santini, on level 1 for breakfast at 10am. This is an upmarket restaurant that has a la carte breakfast rather than a buffet you get at most hotels.

They close for breakfast at 10:30am - so it's a good thing that we didn't sleep in any later. We didn't think the coffee was that good but the pancake I ordered was probably the best I've ever had.

At about midday, we went for a walk in Murray Mall which just across the road from the hotel. It's similar to Pitt Street Mall in Sydney. Suzy didn't want to walk too far because foot is still very sore. It was a pleasant morning for a stroll - about 19C with a gentle breeze.

We found a sidewalk cafe to have a cup of coffee. Suzy went back to hotel while I found a chemist to buy her more Voltaren for her injury. As it turned out, she went shopping in Peter Alexander along the way to buy more clothes for the grandchildren.

Suzy was happy to put her feet up in the hotel room for the afternoon to rest her foot. She sat there on the bed planning our next holiday - September-October next year in Egypt. I set out to go for a walk to see more of the city.

We'd arranged to have dinner tonight with Vicky and John. Vicky is one of Suzy's cousins. We stayed with them some years ago when they lived in a country area near Aberdeen in Scotland. They now live in Perth but are soon heading back to live in the UK.

The plan was to have pre-dinner drinks at the rooftop bar in the hotel at 6pm and have dinner in Santini Restaurant on level 1 at 7pm. At first we sat on the open-air terrace but this was too cold and we moved inside.

The meal was very nice but slow. Main course didn't arrive until about 8:30pm - which wasn't a problem because we had a lot to talk about. However, the bread basket was very impressive. It was good to be able to catch up with Vicky and John.
